Colorado Day Road Trip 8.2.17

On the last day of summer break, I needed to spend the day in the mountains. My heart was set on hiking Dream Lake in Estes Park, but the crowds were really crazy once we got there, so we took a little road trip instead. Through Estes Park, up and over Trail Ridge Road, and down into Silverthorne by way of Route 9 past Green Mountain Reservoir.

The day was filled with unbelievably gorgeous views, and that certain peace-of-mind-and-heart that only the Rocky Mountains can give you.

It was a ridiculously gorgeous day with typical Colorado conditions: chilly in the morning, hot sun at the base of the mountain, windy at the top, and then a good downpour in the middle of a short hike near Green Reservoir.

There also was the most amazing tacos I've ever had in Kremmling at a little hole in the wall restaurant, Los Amigos.

And then sure enough, the day was over and so was my summer break.
