Crested Butte 3.9.18 - 3.11.18
This is the last year that Mt. Crested Butte ski resort will be on our ski passes. We get 4 free days there, so once we realized that it was our last opportunity to ski it without buying extra lift tickets, we knew we had to quickly book a weekend in this beautiful place still on our bucket lists!
We found a hotel that was puppy-friendly, packed up the car, and drove the almost-5 hour trip to the middle of the Rockies, with a dog in the backseat that we quickly learned DID NOT like to be in the car...
Look at that miserable face. Haha sorry, Lily!
Saturday // Ski Day 1
Mostly cloudy, with a few flurries in the morning. Skied until about 2:00pm, and then had a nap before heading into town for some ridiculously delicious pizza that I'm still drooling over...
Sunday // Ski Day 2
Gorgeous blue skies, but only 2 short hours of skiing as we had to make our way back home while it was still light outside. But those 2 hours were glorious. We were the 2nd chair up the mountain, and stayed on the lesser-skied runs. I think we got more than a dozen runs in less than 2 hours. It. Was. Amazing.
On the way home, a quick stop in Crested Butte for some famous mini-donuts that were so sugary and perfect, and then a couple quick stops to let Lily get out and run around: one at the Continental Divide, and one at a hot dog stand near a quiet river.
As you can see, Lily was completely miserable on this trip. But Joe and I had an amazing time. We loved skiing Crested Butte, and truly hope to be able to return one day.
Until then, here's my new favorite picture of our little family, as I think it sums up how each of us felt about the weekend:
