Italy 2014

In the summer of 2014, my family took the most incredible vacation to Italy! We had talked about it for years, and dreamed of the Tuscan countryside and visiting the family we heard about in Lucca. We always said "one day...one day..." But in 2012, my beautiful mother was diagnosed with stage 3c breast cancer. It is something that has significantly changed the way we all look at life. Each moment is so precious and we value every moment spent together.

When mom was going through chemo, we made a family pact: Mom fights like hell to beat cancer, and we take the trip we always dreamed of.

I made everyone show me their "excited face" before we got on the plane. Some of us were more receptive to take photos than others...

A week before going, I purchased a new camera: a Canon Powershot sx510. I wasn't interested in photography at all, but really wanted a good camera to take pictures of our dream vacation (and to me, it seemed like a good camera with wi-fi, video, and hd. Marketing really works on me). eventually, I'll post some pictures on here of the trip. Promise.

But since it's summer break and I have some time on my hands, I started playing around with iMovie on my mac. I've always wanted to learn, so i just went for it! To test it out, I made a video of this Italy trip. I'm not even close to Spielberg, but I'd say for it being 1) my first time ever making something on iMovie and 2) having had no intention two years ago of putting these clips into a movie, I'm actually quite proud of it.

Like I said, it's not Hollywood. But at least for the Caschetta family, it makes us want to go back...like right now. :)
